IS THIS THE FUTURE OF DAIRY FARMING?
In todays video i was luckily enough invited to go to Shaun Hartley's farm and check out his new GEA robots. Is this the future of dairy farming?
The link for the robots and GEA Farm Technologies who make them is…https://www.gea.com/en/products/milking-farming-barn/dairyrobot-automated-milking/dairyrobot-r9500-robotic-milking-system.jsp?utm_source=SoMe&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=TomP
These robots use the least energy, are super durable and mean cows are super comfortable during milking.
NOTE: All regulations and social distancing rules was adhered to at the time of filming this video.

The Truth About Dairy Farming in the UK
As kids, many of us are told that milk comes from cows and that farmers are doing them a kindness by relieving them of it. But what we're taught about the dairy industry is a lie.
Cows, like humans and other mammals, only produce milk when they have had a baby. Dairy cows are artificially inseminated and forced to give birth every year to ensure they are continually producing milk.

UK farmer losing £35K/month! - Why dairy farms are dying
Steve Evans has a dairy herd in Pembrokeshire and he's losing thousands of pounds every month because of Bovine Tb. He wants his cows free of the notifiable disease so he can get back to some form of normality and certainty. We join him as vets are onsite doing 2 different tests which will give him a more accurate idea of how many of his cows are carriers. However by doing so he risks losing 70% of his 500 strong herd and going out of business. He explains the frustrations of dairy farming in Wales. Here they don't allow the control of wildlife to minimise the risk of Tb infection which can happen when the cows are out in the pastures grazing during spring and summer.

Go behind the scenes of a British Dairy Farm - the home of Baron Bigod - Fen Farm Dairy
In the first episode of twelve we spend the day with Jonny Crickmore, Cheesemaker, Dairy Farmer and business man. We hear how a rebellious streak led him down the path less trodden towards Baron Bigod, now one of the UK's best loved cheeses. Jonny gives us a first-hand view of a day in the life of a real dairy farm and we learn of his aspirations for the future. As Autumn begins to take over from Summer we see the seasons change at Fen Farm Dairy.

Also like humans, cows form powerful bonds with their babies. But how can the mother cow nurse and take cow of her baby when humans are drinking their milk.
In order for farmers to take their milk, calves are snatched away from their mothers, usually within hours of being born. Mother cows will often cry out for their young for days after they're gone. The calves are put into solitary confinement and fed with milk replacers. The females will often suffer the same fate as their mothers, eventually replacing them in the milking herd. The males will either be killed, raised for low-grade beef or sold to the veal industry.
Dairy cows endure a life of perpetual suffering and misery.
Due to selective breeding, the amount of milk a dairy cow is forced to produce has more than doubled over the past four decades.
This, along with multiple births takes a huge toll on their bodies. Painful udder inflammations are common and many cows will suffer from permanent nerve damage due to difficult births. This affects their ability to use their hind legs. It's not uncommon to see their legs shackled in order to stop them from doing the splits, and get them to the milking parlour.
We tend to associate dairy farming with cows grazing in luscious green fields. But the truth is that all cows are indoors for at least six months a year and a growing number are zero grazed.
US style mega farms are on the rise in the UK. Cows are being confined inside industrial sheds for their whole lives. Once their bodies are worn out, dairy cows are sent to slaughter at just a fraction of their natural lifespans. They end up being turned into cheap meat.
It is wrong to believe that dairy cows don't suffer the same fate as beef cows. The only way to help end this is to stop consuming dairy products and go vegan.
